Tracking the impact of a new media environment on consumers

MSR has worked with a variety of media clients – from (foreign) established to new ones which have sprung up in the country since 2012. We have explored how news spread in rural and urban Myanmar, tracked changing media attitudes and usage, and advised major broadcasters on content preferences and interests for the development of new programs.

We witnessed first-hand the impact the multiplication of media outlets has had on the population, which went from a heavy reliance on word of mouth, and a few state-sponsored newspapers and TV channels, to a country with a plethora of options, not least the vast array of national and international outlets made available through Facebook.
